Kevin D. Bland Esq. has been an expert in the construction industry for almost twenty years. His career began in Los Angeles, California where he worked on high rise buildings as an erection foreman. Bland also has experience serving as the Vice-President of a nationally and California state accredited company responsible for testing material handling devices, such as construction crane equipment.
Bland is with the firm Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, PC and holds a Contractor’s “A” License. Bland has experience in construction risk management, construction safety, construction litigation, construction contract claims, and OSHA citation appeals and rulemaking. Bland represents general contractors and builders, crane and rigging contractors, trade associations and contractors, construction contractors and material suppliers, offshore oil platform operators, and an assortment of other non-construction businesses, and counsels them on matters such as construction planning, safety, and crane operation practices. He also frequently practices before the Cal-OSHA Appeals Board, DOSH Standards Board, and the Nevada DIR Commission.
Bland has previously represented members of, and participated in, various rule-making advisory committees for the Division of Occupational Safety and Health. He has served as a consultant to the Crane Unit in developing mobile crane load testing procedures. Bland was a crucial developer of the 1999 winner of the International Risk Management Best Practice Awards for loss control, risk financing, risk transfer, and risk analysis: the “Snyder Langston Mobile Crane Safety Manual Policies and Procedures”. Bland is indeed a leading authority in defending employers in Cal/OSHA cases and representing trade associations in safety appeals.
